When we polled our the Yahoo!-Eurosport readers before the tournament began, the most popular prediction (39%) was that England would be eliminated in the group stage in Poland and Ukraine.

Not only did England avoid that fate, but they won Group D, drawing with France before back-to-back wins against Sweden and Ukraine.

Their style of play has drawn some criticism, and many believe that when Roy Hodgson's men are confronted with stiffer opposition they will be exposed.

The next challenge is a quarter-final with Italy in Kiev. Greece or Germany would await in the semi-finals, with a possible final against World and European champions Spain the last frontier.

So are you more or less optimistic now? How far do you think England can go now?

Yesterday we asked you for your prediction ahead of the match between England and Ukraine.

The majority of you correctly called an England victory, which they achieved courtesy of Wayne Rooney's winner.
