Pontus Dahbo Celtic transfer link as Hacken name asking price for highly-rated youngster

Celtic are monitoring highly-rated Swedish youngster Pontus Dahbo, according to a report.

Brendan Rodgers is mainly targeting proven players to improve his first-team this summer but there may also be space for one or two 'project' players. Dahbo would certainly fall into that category but has featured in the Hacken first team, both in the Allsvenskan and the Europa League, though remained on the bench when they faced Aberdeen.

After penning a new deal in February, the midfielder is contracted until 2025 but could still be lured by a big move. And Swedish outlet FD report the Hoops are tracking the youngster, rated as one of the best prospects in his country along with Tottenham-bound Lucas Bergvall.

Hacken have already sold Benie Traore and Ibrahim Sadiq for big money and Dahbo is now poised to be their next big sale. It's said the Swedes' asking price will be £3.4million.

Celtic are still to get up and running with signings this summer and assistant manager John Kennedy offered an update yesterday. He said: "There’s a lot of conversations happening. It’s a time when a lot of players have been on holiday and different things have been happening. We come back for pre-season and hopefully in the coming weeks a few things will start to happen but there’s a lot of plates spinning and a lot of work getting done. Hopefully, we’ll start to see that materialise over the coming weeks.”
