A popular pub in Bexleyheath has been named the best for entertainment at a prestigious national pub awards.
The Kings Arms Pub in Bexleyheath was up against five other venues shortlisted in this category, and was also named as a finalist for Best City/Urban Pub in this year’s awards.
About the awards
The Great British Pub Awards brings together the UK’s leading and most popular pubs that enter to win one of the highly coveted awards.
Pubs are invited to enter before they are shortlisted, visited by a judge and finally interviewed before the final winners are revealed.
This year the awards announced a finalist line-up of 97 pubs entered to win across 18 different award categories from Best Pub for Dogs to Best Pub Garden.
This year’s awards saw a “record number” of entries from across the UK before the list of finalists were revealed.
About The Kings Arms
Dating back to 1843 when the pub was first built, this 189 year old pub first began trading from the back garden of local beer seller Richard Markhall.
The pub now hosts a range of events including weekly live music from a line-up of acts on Fridays and Saturdays as well as quiz nights every Wednesday.
Film lovers can also enjoy weekly film screenings at their Sunday Cinema Club, which takes place on the roof terrace on Sundays.
There are also a range of food and drink options from a classic Sunday roast, breakfast and brunch options, and a menu of cocktails for £9 each.
On its Instagram page, The Kings Arms wrote: “This is the effort of a team over 5 years, well done everyone that has created this.
"Thank you to the team working tonight and everyone that joined us."
Pub owner Peter Marshall said: "The Great British pub Awards are more important than ever and so to receive a national award for the hard work the team does makes things extra special
"We believe we have put a program of events together that not just Bexley loves, but something that is recognised as going above and beyond."
