Popular Southend and Basildon venues get new hygiene ratings - here's how they fared
New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 11 south Essex establishments this week, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.
Basildon
The following ratings have been given to three restaurants, cafes or canteens:
• Rated 5: Duke of York, Southend Road, Billericay; rated on September 21
• Rated 5: Towngate Theatre Bar at Towngate Theatre, St Martins Square; rated on September 19
• Rated 5: Shotgate Cafe at 7 Hurricane Close, Wickford; rated on September 14
And one rating has been handed to a takeaway:
• Rated 5: Albert's Pie and Mash at Hut In Car Park, 80 High Street, Wickford; rated on September 19
Southend
The following ratings have been given to three restaurants, cafes or canteens:
• Rated 5: Madeira Cafe at 71a Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff; rated on September 7
• Rated 5: Miller And Carter Steakhouse at 629 Rayleigh Road, Eastwood; rated on September 5
• Rated 5: Milton Cafe at 63 Milton Road, Westcliff; rated on September 5
• Rated 4: Off Broadway at 25a - 25b Glendale Gardens, Leigh; rated on August 23
Two ratings have been handed to pubs, bars or nightclubs:
• Rated 5: Mariners Court at 125 - 127 Broadway, Leigh; rated on September 8
• Rated 5: The Slug And Lettuce at 6 - 8 Southchurch Road, Southend; rated on September 4
And a Southend takeaway has been handed a new four-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
Pizza City, a takeaway at 72 Southchurch Avenue, was given the score after assessment on September 25.
