Liverpool and Porto’s first meeting was 20 years ago — and although that UEFA Cup quarter-final ended 0-0, the Reds have since dominated this fixture.

The Premier League side have never been beaten in eight meetings, winning five of them, and have scored a total of nine goals on their past two visits to the Estadio do Dragao.

Liverpool come into tonight’s Champions League game top of Group B having beaten AC Milan 3-2 in a thriller at Anfield while Porto, quarter-finalists last season before being knocked out by Chelsea, opened their European campaign with a 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid.

Both teams are still unbeaten in their domestic leagues, with Liverpool enduring a nervy night at Brentford before escaping with a 3-3 draw on Saturday while Porto needed an 89th-minute winner from substitute Sergio Oliveira to beat Gil Vicente 2-1 on Friday.
