PREMIER LEAGUE: Chelsea braced for expensive legal battle after Eva Carneiro 'quits her job' with the champions

Eva Carneiro is reported to have parted company with Chelsea, a development that could increase the battle between her and the Premier League champions.

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea doctor Carneiro failed to return to work at Chelsea's Cobham training ground last week for which would have been her first appearance since her bust-up with manager Jose Mourinho following the match against Swansea on August 8.

Mourinho was furious she went on the pitch to treat Eden Hazard in the latter stages of the match with the score at 2-2 and the Blues down to 10 men following the sending off of keeper Thibault Courtois.

The Portuguese was angry that Hazard had to go off as a result, leaving the home side with nine players.

It now seems she has in fact departed the club and although Chelsea may argue that her failure to show fup  could weaken her case for constructive dismissal, arriving at Cobham would have amounted to accepting the new terms of her employment after being stripped of first-team duties.

The Mail reports that Chelsea are aware that the Gibraltar-born medic is consulting top employment lawyers, but refused to comment further on what they insisted is an 'internal matter'.
