PREMIER LEAGUE: Harry Kane off "injured" as Tottenham throw it away

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino insists his striker was tired and not hurt - despite the appearance of an ice bag on Kane's ankle

Tottenham suffered a major setback today when Harry Kane went off injured against Stoke.

The England striker hobbled off after 58 minutes with his side leading 2-0 and appeared with an ice pack on an injured ankle.

Things got worse for the home side as Stoke battled back to draw 2-2 with two late goals.

Tottenham signed striker Clinton N'Jie today having sold Roberto Soldado yesterday.

After the match Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino denied Kane was injured.

"He was tired," Pochettino said. "He came later in pre-season and it is normal. He is better but he needs time to arrive.

"We knew before the end of last season Harry Kane would play a lot and the consequences you can see now."

Pochettino added: "Every game is different, today my feeling was he was tired.

"This is the truth, at 2-0, after 65 minutes, I think it was enough for him. We don't take risks with his body."
