Premier League: Mourinho 'to snub Giggs as assistant and appoint Faria'

Jose Mourinho will find a place for Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs in his new-look coaching team at Old Trafford - but not as assistant manager.

Instead Mourinho wants to appoint Rui Faria with whom he has worked since 2002 at Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid - according to Sky Sports.

Giggs will be offered a coaching role but it is not known whether the 42-year-old would be happy with this and his 29-year stay at the club could be coming to an end.

Mourinho's agent will arrive in England today for talks with United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward in London where it is expected the final details of the Portguese's contract to succeed Louis van Gaal will be finalised.

Van Gaal was sacked yesterday just 48 hours after winning the FA Cup with one year still left on his three-year contract.
