The former Newcastle, Blackburn and Bolton star fell asleep at the wheel while driving and ended up killing a motorcyclist.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to careless driving and was given a six-month suspended sentence and ordered to do 300 hours of community service by Nottingham Crown Court.

The accident happened in April 2011, when Sellers was driving home from work after returning from a coaching trip in Dubai.

The court was told that Sellers has apologised to the family of victim Simon Burnett.

The judge in the case Shaun Smith also said that Sellers had not been showing off or speeding and that it was a 'single careless act'.

Sellars is the current coach of the City under-18 team and has also previously been assistant manager at Chesterfield.

Sellars played over 500 football league games with Leeds, Huddersfield and Mansfield also amongst his former clubs.
