Leicester fans going to their home game with Newcastle this weekend will be offered free beer and season tickets to celebrate the birthday of the club’s chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

The Foxes have a history of showering their supporters with free gifts and to celebrate their owner’s 60th birthday they are offering every fan who turns up to the King Power on Saturday a free beer (or water if you don’t fancy one).

This is a slight departure from previous years where they also handed out free cupcakes and doughnuts but this time there are seasons tickets on offer too; 60 in total One lucky winner from each of the four stands will be announced at half-time with the remaining 56 contacted by the club.

Leicester fans have become used to getting gifts each year from their owner; for his birthday in 2016 he gave fans free beer and doughnuts before the home clash with Southampton, while in December 2015 supporters were treated to a complimentary beer by sponsor Singha, which they probably needed to calm nerves as they headed for the Premier League title.

A few months before, in May 2015, with the Foxes on a incredible late run to stave off relegation to the Championship, the club again bought everyone a beer.

Vice chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha – son of owner Vichai – said: “We want to say thank you to our fans for their incredible support this season.

“A complimentary can of Singha Beer or bottle of water will be vended on the production of a valid home match ticket for the Premier League fixture between Leicester City and Newcastle United on Saturday 7 April, 2018,” said a statement on Leicester’s website, adding: “Strictly one drink per match ticket,” which sounds like advice that’s come from experience.

The Chairman also hosted a ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ style birthday party held at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Children being treated for long-term illnesses were invited along to enjoy free food and entertainment and were joined by a number of first team players, including Kasper Schmeichel, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho.
