Premier League - Liverpool name strong side to start post-Suarez era

Dejan Lovren will make his Liverpool debut against former club Southampton as the teams meet at Anfield in the Premier League.

The centre-back comes straight into Brendan Rodgers' side for the opening game of the season, while fellow ex-Saint Rickie Lambert is on the bench. Adam Lallana, who also left the south coast for Merseyside this summer, misses the game through injury.

Righ-back Javier Manquillo also makes his debut, while further forward Philippe Coutinho will shoulder the burden of replacing Suarez after an excellent pre-season.

Southampton hand debuts to summer signings Fraser Forster, Ryan Bertrand, Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle. Morgan Schneiderlin starts despite telling the club he was "not mentally or physically ready" to play after being linked with Tottenham.
