Negredo faces between two and three months on the sidelines after fracturing the fifth metatarsal of his right foot - he picked up the injury in City’s win over Scottish side Hearts on Friday, with the former Sevilla striker limping out of the match, to be replaced by John Guidetti.

Negredo will miss City’s tour of the United States and the start of the season after he confirmed the news on Instagram.

"I want to let you know that its going to be hard for the next few months, I fractured my 5th metatarsal and will be out a few months," Negredo wrote on his Instagram account with an accompanying picture of him wearing a protective boot.

"I will be back stronger than ever. I will return with a vengeance."
