Premier League: Manchester United appoint first ever counter-terrorism manager
Manchester United have become the first club in England to appoint a full-time counter-terrorism manager.
The Old Trafford club have filled the post with a former inspector from Greater Manchester Police’s specialist search unit.
The appointment comes after United’s Premier League game against Bournemouth in May was postponed and the stadium evacuated after a fake bomb – which had been left in error – was found in a toilet.
The Red Devils announced the move in a club forum after upping security around Old Trafford, including vehicle checks and increased supporter searches.
