The number of players and staff from Premier League clubs who have tested positive for Covid-19 has fallen once again.

Between Monday, 18 January, and Sunday, 24 January, across two rounds of testing, 2,518 players and club staff were tested for coronavirus.

Of these, there were eight new positive cases and those players or club staff who have tested positive will have to self-isolate for a period of 10 days.

The fall in positives cases is a boost for the Premier League as they continue to play on during the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the start of the month, there was a large spike in cases and, between January 4 to 10, 2,593 players and staff were tested and of these 36 were positive for Covid-19.

The Premier League has since tightened its protocols around coronavirus and they appear to be working.

Last week, results showed how 16 players and staff had tested positive for Covid-19 and that number has now fallen to eight.
