Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed who he thinks will win the Premier League this season.

In a decision which Gary Neville once described as ‘like having a choice of two blokes to nick your wife’, the legendary former Manchester United manager has, seemingly, taken his pick.

And it goes without saying that the answer will not please Red Devils fans.

“I was chatting with Phil Bardsley, and I’m going to drop a name here, he was sat with Sir Alex Ferguson,” Former Ireland international Jon Walters told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast.

“He sat with him and he thinks Liverpool are going to win it.

“He thinks Liverpool because he thinks United will get something out of the City game.”

Having created an era of domination at Old Trafford, Sir Alex is possibly one of the most qualified to have his say.

The good news, then, is at least United will surely take points off their cross-city rivals.

That’s a consolation, right?
