Eddie Howe celebrated the two-year anniversary of his appointment as Newcastle United manager earlier this month - and what a ride he has experienced during the time that has passed.
The Magpies were in a very different place when the former Bournemouth manager was named as successor to Steve Bruce in November 2021. Languishing in the bottom three and without a win to their name, United looked odds-on to suffer a third relegation from the Premier League.
But with Howe's ability to bring the best out of players and some strong backing in the transfer market, the Magpies were transformed from Championship possibles to Champions League competitors within the space of 18 months and enjoyed a first visit to the major cup final in almost a quarter of a century.

Harry Redknapp has come out of retirement to lend a hand to the UK's "worst performing football team". It has been seven years since the former West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, QPR and Portsmouth manager was last in the dugout. Cwm Albion was formed more than 100 years ago and currently play in the Swansea Senior League.
Team GB’s hopes of playing in the Olympics were dashed when England failed to top their Nations League group despite beating Scotland 6-0 at Hampden Park
The continuing success of the Premier League depends on its numbers rising. Viewing figures, social media likes, and the amount broadcasters will pay to show its product. No executives will worry for long about any collateral damage, like that to Saturday 3pm kick-offs.
There will be no Team GB side involved in the Olympics women’s football competition in Paris next summer, which means the women’s game will miss out on a key opportunity for exposure, and it’s because England – who were designated as being responsible for qualifying on behalf of Great Britain – failed to win their Nations League group. It leaves fans asking: where did it go wrong?
When the final whistle blew on Arsenal’s victory over Wolves on Saturday, Oleksandr Zinchenko did not celebrate with any of his team-mates. While the rest of the Arsenal players pumped their fists and exchanged congratulatory pats on the back, he instead walked alone towards the other side of the pitch.
