Real sold Mesut Ozil to Arsenal for €50 million (£42.5 million) on deadline day and international colleague Khedira revealed that United, who were reportedly offered Ozil some weeks ago, had a late bid for Khedira turned down by Madrid.
“The club turned down the offer and that was it,” the 26-year-old told a press conference for the German national team.
“We didn’t really have the chance to discuss it. I had a longer chat with Carlo Ancelotti a few weeks ago and it was relatively clear to me that I’d stay at Real.”
By general consensus, United endured a difficult transfer window and Galatasaray sporting co-ordinator Bulunt Tulun has also revealed that the Old Trafford club made an 'indirect' bid for long-term target Wesley Sneijder.
"Sneijder received an indirect offer from Manchester United two weeks ago but it was not accepted," Tulun told newspaper Milliyet.
"There are several clubs that want him but just like we can't let go of [striker] Burak [Yilmaz] we also have to keep hold of Sneijder."
