Facing Saracens in Saturday’s Premiership semi-final at StoneX Stadium doesn’t appear to be an intimidating prospect for Harlequins back-row Will Evans.

Although he admitted that his team will face a tough challenge, he said they are determined to do well and are quietly confident of pulling off a win.

Full of belief

“We know it’s not going to be an easy task this weekend. They’re a very hard team to beat at home but every single one of us, all 23, are going to play and believe we can do it,” Evans told the BBC.

These sides faced each other twice during the regular season and Sarries came out on top on both occasions as they sealed a 29-22 win at Twickenham Stoop in Round Seven and claimed a 19-10 Round 16 victory at StoneX Stadium.

Harlequins have gained a reputation as the Premiership‘s comeback kings after they fought back from a 28-0 deficit to secure a remarkable 43-36 triumph in last year’s semi-final at Ashton Gate.

Evans said his team can ill afford to allow Saracens to put up a similar lead this weekend.

“They’re too good to give up a 28-0 deficit [like Bristol did last year],” he admitted.

“We’ve spoken a lot about that, to stay on their coat tails in the first half and don’t let them build up too much of a lead.”

Meanwhile, Harlequins attack coach said his club will not deviate from their attacking style of play which has stood them in good stead throughout the season.

“We believe in who we are and how we operate, we’re not perfect,” he said.

“To be the only team to make it back to the semi-final from last season, a lot of people doubted us.

“We’ve done this season with a lot of our best players away with England.

“We’re really proud that we’ve been able to work our way through this season.”
