Preps: PikeView girls steamroll Shady Spring

Jan. 25—GARDNER — Jaelynn Shrewsbury scored 19 points to lead the PikeView girls in a 65-27 victory over visiting Shady Spring on Wednesday night.

Cat Farmer and Haley Justice scored 13 points apiece for the Lady Panthers.

Megan Hendrick and Austyn Barnes each scored 11 points to pace the Lady Tigers.

Boys Games

River View 59, Hurley 49

HURLEY, Va. — Jackson Danielson scored 17 points and corralled nine rebounds to lead the Raiders past Hurley in an interstate road victory, on Wednesday.

Kaiden Newberry had 15 points and five steals for River View (9-1). Gabe Lester scored 11.

Landon Bailey crossed the 1,000-point career mark on his way to a team-leading 19 points for the Rebels.

The Raiders play at Mount View tonight.

Graham 77, PikeView 47

GARDNER — Daniel Jennings scored 19 points to lead the G-Men past the Panthers in an interstate road game on Wednesday.

Jennings, a sophomore, recently received a football scholarship offer from West Virginia University.

Markelle Ray scored 18 points for Graham, while Cambel Fix scored 17 points.

Jared Vestal scored 18 points to lead PikeView while Drew Damewood scored 14 points.

Late Boys Games

Graham 77, Tazewell 55

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Markelle Ray scored 30 points and the G-Men rolled to a Southwest District victory over the visiting Bulldogs on Tuesday night.

Gage Palmer added 17 points for Graham, which plays at Richlands in a key Southwest District and Tazewell County rivalry game on Friday.

Carter Creasy scored 13 points for the Bulldogs while Chase Brown added 10 points.

James Monroe 60, Montcalm 25

LINDSIDE — Ryan Cole hit five 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 21 points and the Mavericks galloped off with an overwhelming win over the visiting Generals on Tuesday night.

Cooper Ridgeway scored 15 points for James Monroe while Brady Baker tossed in nine points.

Tristen Cline and Trent Nunn scored six points apiece to pace the Generals.

Mountain Mission 72, MCA 63

PRINCETON — Imani Charka scored 21 points to lead Mountain Mission past the Mercer Christian Academy boys on Tuesday night.

Abel Mesfin put up 16 points for the Challengers while Kava Dewitt added 10 points for the visitors from Grundy, Va.

MJ Patton led the Cavaliers with 29 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Chance Watkins scored 12 points with 12 rebounds while distributing five assists. Isaac Sharp had nine points and five rebounds, Eli Patton had nine points and four rebounds and Kyler Carpenter rounded up seven boards.

MCA (7-8) returns to action at home on Friday, taking on Greater Beckley Christian at 8 p.m.

Middle School Girls Basketball

Princeton 44, Peterstown 27

PETERSTOWN — Gia Twitty scored 17 points and the Lady Tigers remained unbeaten after a road victory at Peterstown Middle School on Tuesday.

Twitty also had six steals for Princeton (10-0), which also accumulated 12 points from Kylee Jackson, nine points from Addison McCabe and nine rebounds from Brystal Winfrey.

Lydia Dunlap led the Lady Pirates with 14 points.

The Lady Tigers play Glenwood at home tonight.
