'We are pretty clear on what is going to happen' - Ian Evatt on Aaron Morley's future
Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt has admitted he is ‘pretty clear on what is going to happen’ with on loan Wycombe Wanderers midfielder, Aaron Morley.
The 24-year-old joined the Chairboys on a season-long loan in August from the Trotters and has played a huge role in the club’s success so far this campaign.
He has featured 20 times in all competitions since making the move down south, starting on 16 occasions – 15 of them being in the league.
At the time of writing, Wycombe sit top of League One, and are the highest goalscorers in the division.
However, rumours have started to circulate that Morley could be recalled by Bolton when the January Transfer Window opens next month.
When asked about his plans for the central midfielder, who will miss the match between the two teams on December 20, Evatt said: “I will obviously not share them but we know what we want to do and our options.
“We are pretty clear on what is going to happen, at the moment, but things can change.
“We have recruitment meetings happening all the time and there are meetings going on with agents and clubs to see how we strengthen the squad.
“Is there going to be a huge change?
“No, but whatever we do in this window has to move the needle.
“It has to make the team better, we are clear on that.
“It is not about deepening the squad, it is about making the starting XI better.
“That is where our focus is, to make sure the ones we bring in – one, two, three maybe – it makes the 11 stronger than what it is at the moment.”
Wycombe go into the game top of the League One table with 43 points – a tally they had to wait until March to achieve last season.
They have blown teams away with the club scoring in every league game so far this campaign, and Evatt knows it will not be an easy test.
He added: “They have been on a tremendous run and are playing full of confidence. They have a way of playing which is effective.
"Obviously, Aaron (Morley) can’t play and he has been good for them so far this season, in the role he has been given.
“I am wondering if he will give them a good steer on us, I certainly haven’t asked him the question because that is not the right thing to do!
“It is as difficult as it gets at the moment and the personnel we have missing doesn’t make it any easier.
“But it is an opportunity and we have to go there and do the best we can.”
The match will kick off at 7.45pm on December 20 at Adams Park.
