The Princess of Wales shocked Eurovision fans on 13 May as she opened the final by playing the piano in a touching tribute to Ukraine. As the show kicked off in Liverpool, the city hosting on behalf of Ukraine, last year's winners, the Kalush Orchestra, performed their song with a number of cameos, including Kate Middleton who had secretly been filmed playing the piano in Windsor castle last month.
Wearing an asymmetric blue Jenny Packham gown, the Princess could be seen sitting at a grand piano playing for around 10 seconds. Shortly after the Eurovision final opened, the Prince and Princess of Wales posted the short video on their Instagram, with the caption: "A #Eurovision surprise 🎹A pleasure to join @kalush.official in a special performance of last year's winning @eurovision entry. Enjoy the show, Liverpool " The Eurovision Broadcasting Union has previously banned President Zelensky from addressing the viewers, stating it would breach its political ban.
