Priyanka Chopra recalls “dehumanising moment” with Bollywood director
Love Again star Priyanka Chopra Jonas has opened up on a "dehumanising moment" which happened early on in her career as a Bollywood actress.
In an interview with The Zoe Report, the actress revealed she had been cast to play a character who worked undercover, but was upset when the film's director insisted she strip down to her underwear for one scene.
"I'm undercover, I'm seducing the guy — obviously that's what girls do when they're undercover," she said of the scene.
"But I'm seducing the guy and you have to take off one piece of clothing [at a time]. I wanted to layer up. The filmmaker was like, 'No, I need to see her underwear. Otherwise why is anybody coming to watch this movie?' He said it to the stylist in front of me."

Chopra went on to explain that the comment led her to take several days off filming before ultimately deciding to walk away from the project altogether — paying the production company back out of her own money.
"It was such a dehumanising moment. It was a feeling of, I'm nothing else outside of how I can be used, my art is not important, what I contribute is not important," she added.
"I just couldn’t look at him every day."
Chopra would ultimately leave the Bollywood film industry in 2011 to pursue a brief career in music before landing a role in ABC series Quantico in 2015.

She has since gone on to feature in The Matrix Resurrections and star opposite Outlander's Sam Heughan in romcom Love Again.
Chopra can currently be soon in Prime Video series Citadel alongside Game of Thrones star Richard Madden.
The spy-thriller series has been a success for the Amazon platform, with season one becoming its fourth most-watched original series worldwide. The streamer has since confirmed that Citadel has been renewed for a second season with its leading stars returning.
