Prodrive will skip Rally GB

Prodrive's World Rally Championship Mini team has announced that it will be skipping Rally GB next month.

The squad was expected to compete in the rally after its outing in Germany at the end of August, but has instead decided to focus on the final three tarmac rounds of 2012.

Mini will thus compete in Germany, France and the season finale in Spain.

The announcement comes after Dani Sordo completed a two-day test in preparation for Rally Germany in three weeks' time.

"The test has gone really, really well," said Sordo. "We have made lots of improvements to the chassis and set-up and I have a really good feeling for the car and am able to push really hard.

"It has certainly given me a lot of confidence going into the rally in three weeks. For sure all the other teams will also have improved and we won't really know where we stand until the first few stages, but I will certainly be looking to go even faster than last year."

Sordo finished in sixth position in June's Rally New Zealand.
