PSG president makes Mohamed Salah transfer statement after surprise Liverpool links

Mohamed Salah's future remains uncertain and Liverpool fans are starting to feel the stress, with a host of European clubs swirling - however, Paris Saint-Germain doesn't appear to be an option.

The Egyptian King is, as everyone knows, out of contract at the end of the current campaign. He's seemingly begged Liverpool bosses to offer him a new contract and he isn't shy about wanting to stay, but there's been no breakthrough.

In fact, it was reported this week that Salah will willingly sign just a one-year extension if needed, such is his desire to remain at Anfield.

But the uncomfortable truth remains that Salah can theoretically sign for a non-English club from January 1 and move on a free in the summer of 2025 - when his current contract at Liverpool comes to an end.

A number of top clubs from around Europe are, naturally, said to be circling the waters, with reports suggesting PSG was taking a look at the 32-year-old.

Now, however, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has dismissed reports that his club had been negotiating with Salah, saying: "He’s a fantastic and amazing player, but we’ve never considered him, to be honest. We know every club would love to have him, but this rumour about us is simply not true."

PSG has seemingly changed its approach to transfers in recent years, having ditched the big-name-first policy it had when the likes of Neymar Jr, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos were signed. Instead, the French champion is promoting younger players like Kang-in Lee, Goncalo Ramos and Joao Neves, in an attempt to rebuild the club's image.

But regardless of the change in approach, signing a monster like Salah on a free is something every club on the face of the planet would jump at.

Salah is still attracting attention from the Saudi Pro League, which is reportedly considering the forward as its top target for 2025 as the deep-pocketed PIF bosses eye another spending spree.

But the forward apparently has Liverpool as his priority due to his desire to win the Premier League and Champions League for a second time with the club - propelling himself to Ballon d'Or contention in the process.

Liverpool.com says: Salah is the best player in the world right now, so it's only natural that he's courting attention from around the world. FSG knows exactly what it has to do, but the clock is ticking to get the club hero to a new long-term contract before he starts to lose his patience and wonder if the grass is perhaps greener elsewhere.
