Ally McCoist has major doubts on whether Marcelo Bielsa would be a good fit for this current Everton squad in the relegation zone.
As things stand, the two front runners for the job are Bielsa and Sean Dyche. Bielsa has been out of work since leaving Leeds in February last year.
The Argentine manager would certainly be a big switch-up from Lampard, but McCoist has doubts over whether he would be a good fit at Goodison Park.
The pundit told talkSPORT: “I’m in agreement with Danny [Murphy] actually. I think somebody like Bielsa would need at least one pre-season to work with these players, to work with this team.
“He’d need weeks to put in place his ideas, his methods. I just think an overnight switch for Bielsa wouldn’t work actually.
“I don’t think looking at that Everton team right now, I don’t think they’re capable of implementing the way Bielsa would want to play, at this moment in time.”
Bielsa’s Leeds United side were known for their high-pressing and all-guns-blazing approach. It would be a big ask of him to immediately transform this Everton side.
As things stand, the Toffees sit 19th in the Premier League and have only collected 15 points all season.
If they continue at their current rate of picking up 0.75 points per game, they would finish the season with a mere 28 points and would surely be relegated.
The pundit told Sky Sports: “There were no banners against Frank Lampard, they were against Farhad Moshiri and the board. I have said Everton are the worst-run club in the country.
“That wasn’t a flippant remark as an ex-Liverpool player, I’m saying it as an ex-Everton fan. When I made that comment, Everton got in touch with me and I admired it, being on the front foot to defend your club. But I didn’t think I was wrong then and I’m not wrong now.
Moshiri doesn’t know what he’s doing, but he’s got a lot of money.
“The same sorts of players are getting brought in, managers are getting changed left, right and centre. Why does every Everton manager fail?
“Lampard, Champions League winning managers like Benitez and Ancelotti, Silva, Koeman has been around the world. So when a club fails, you have to look at the top. It’s a mess.”
