Aaron Wan-Bissaka would be worth £20m if Manchester United sell him this summer, according to a pundit who feels the move was “a little bit too much” for the right-back.

Wan-Bissaka joined Manchester United in a £50m deal from Crystal Palace in 2019. His career at Old Trafford began brightly, despite some concerns over his attacking output.

Over time, those concerns have spread across his whole play. Indeed, the defender has been pressured for his place by Diogo Dalot this season. What’s more, further competition could theoretically arrive during their summer rebuild.

There are fears that Wan-Bissaka will not be suited to how Erik ten Hag will want Manchester United to play. In turn, it has been reported that Crystal Palace would consider bidding to take him back to Selhurst Park.

Wan-Bissaka is under contract with Man Utd until 2024. However, this could be the time for them to cut their losses.

They will need funds to pursue the targets they want and there is a growing belief that Wan-Bissaka may be one of those to be sacrificed.

But according to pundit Danny Mills, they may not be able to recoup even half of what they originally paid for the full-back.

“You could probably pull in another £20m with Wan-Bissaka,” Mills told Football Insider.

“If you add that to the transfer kitty that’s up to £70m which could probably be stretched to £120m realistically.”

Man Utd move was ‘too much’ for Wan-Bissaka

Mills continued: “You look at it, people thought he was going to be England’s next right-back for some considerable time and going to be a great defender, but I think we’ve seen he’s not at that level where he’s going to go on and win a Premier League and make a difference in the Champions League.

“Maybe Man Utd was just a little bit too much for him.”

At the age of 24, Wan-Bissaka should be at a stage where is progressing. But the opposite seems to be happening. Perhaps he would benefit from a reset in the form of a transfer.

In turn, Man Utd would be able to reinvest into other areas of their squad, as well as finding a more suitable replacement.
