Qualifying and recent results

Ahead of Euro 2012, we are casting our eyes back over the past two years and assessing each country's record.

Germany enjoyed a perfect qualifying campaign as they took 30 points from 10 games, scoring 34 and conceding just seven in the process.

Joachim Loew's side beat a talented young Belgium side away from home in their first match, setting the tone for a hugely rewarding qualifying campaign.

Germany scored six goals at home to Azerbaijan and Austria, with their campaign drawing to a close with back-to-back 3-1 wins over Turkey and Belgium in October 2011.

A 3-0 win over rivals Netherlands in a friendly in Hamburg on November 15 sent out a strong message but Germany slipped up just prior to the Euros.

Germany lost 2-1 to France in February and Loew then saw his side beaten 5-3 by Ottmar Hitzfeld's Switzerland at the weekend to puncture their veneer of invulnerability.
