Qualifying and recent results

Ahead of Euro 2012, we are casting our eyes back over the past two years and assessing each country's record.

Ireland, who have become resilient and tough to beat under Giovanni Trapattoni, lost just one of their 10 games in Euro 2012 qualifying, being overcome 3-2 by Russia, who went on to win the group, early on in the campaign at Lansdowne Road.

They held off spirited challenges from Armenia and Slovakia, and secured second spot in Group B.

In the play-offs, they banished any fears of a repeat of their 2010 World Cup heartbreak at the hands of France by mauling Estonia, winning the away leg 4-0 and drawing 1-1 in the return in Ireland.

They drew with Czech Republic, who will also be at the Euros, in a friendly in February and defeated a dangerous Bosnia side 1-0 at home on May 26.
