Raiders stay active, sign CB Melvin, DE Carradine and LB Wilber

The Oakland Raiders continue to be the most active team in free agency thus far, announcing the additions of defensive end Tank Carradine and linebacker Kyle Wilber on Saturday.

Those signings come a day after Oakland announced that it added cornerback Rashaan Melvin, punter Colby Wadman and long snapper Andrew DePaola.

Altogether, that makes 13 free-agent signees this week. The haul includes wide receiver Jordy Nelson, running back Doug Martin, linebacker Tahir Whitehead, safety Marcus Gilchrist, cornerback Shareece Wright, tight end Derek Carrier, fullback Keith Smith and wide receiver Griff Whalen. The Raiders also re-signed defensive tackle Justin Ellis and tight end Lee Smith during a busy few days.

Of the latest additions, Melvin is coming off of the most productive season, helping stabilize the Indianapolis Colts' secondary through 10 games in 2017 before suffering a season-ending hand injury. The 28-year-old broke up 20 passes over the last two seasons while playing in 25 games (19 starts) in Indianapolis, after previously bouncing around rosters from 2014-15.

According to multiple reports, Melvin will make $6.5 million on a one-year deal.

Carradine, 29, spent the last five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers after being a second-round pick in 2013. He missed half of last season with an ankle injury but was otherwise a full-time starter in 2017 for the first time in his career. In 48 games (eight starts), he has 5.5 career sacks.

Wilber, who turns 29 in April, played in all 16 games as a special-teams contributor in 2017, tallying just four tackles. He has 99 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 89 career games (16 starts), all with the Dallas Cowboys.

DePaola was added on a four-year, $4.27 million contract, according to multiple reports, making him the highest-paid long snapper in the league.
