Rams set new season low for offensive futility in first half vs. Patriots
Thank goodness the Los Angeles Rams gave head coach Jeff Fisher a contract extension. I mean, you can’t get coaching like this just anywhere:
The Rams' 25 total yards in the 1st half are the fewest by a team in a game this season

Yes, the Rams are starting a rookie quarterback in Jared Goff. Yes, the Rams are on the road against the New England Patriots. But 25 yards?!?
Los Angeles’ first-half possessions looked like this: three-and-out, punt; three-and-out, punt; first down, interception; three-and-out, punt; three-and-out, punt; kneel-down for halftime.
Yeesh.
During a Tuesday conference call, Patriots coach Bill Belichick twice mentioned Rams punter Johnny Hekker without provocation, talking about his explosiveness. Hekker was about the only Los Angeles player doing his job well in the opening two quarters.
Not surprisingly, Los Angeles was losing 17-0 at halftime.
