Rangers have no current plans to add free transfers to their squad following their summer window, Football Scotland understands.

Manager Philippe Clement had previously hinted that freebies could be signed when the transfer window slammed shut on August 31 with the club recently linked with a move for Davy Klaassen. The Dutchman would ultimately move back to Ajax but sources have told Football Scotland that the Ibrox club are no longer actively seeking new players within the free agency market.

The Light Blues had a busy summer with the likes of Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Nedim Bajrami both joining on deadline day following exits for Todd Cantwell, Scott Wright and Ben Davies.

And Belgian Clement refused to rule out bringing in free agents at the time. "Could we still look at free agents? That’s still a possibility, yes," he said earlier this month.

But it's understood the recruitment team, headed up by chief Nils Koppen, have not been tasked with finding any bargains at this stage of the campaign with the manager and his staff content to work with the squad at their disposal.

Of course, football can change in an instant should an opportunity arise, but no scouting is being prioritised for freebies between now and the January window.
