Rangers daft Cameron Menzies admits he is lost for words after shocking former Darts Premier League champion James Wade to reach the last eight of the Grand Slam.

The 35-year-old emerged victorious in a nail-biting clash by hitting double tops to win the match 10-9 after previously winning the first five legs. Menzies was subjected to taunts of "Scotland get battered everywhere they go" by the English, pro-wade crowd but turned those jears on it's head by getting the better of Wade.

Menzies - who is in a relationship with female darts star Fellon Sherrock broke down with emotion after sealing the win and admitted that the hostile English crowd had almost made him miss out the best victory of his career so far. The Scot also joked that he will now have to call in sick to his day job as a plumber in order to chase more glory in the tournament, where a prize fund of £650,000 is awarded to the winner.

He said: "I don’t know how to explain that. I won the first five legs before break 3-2. I get the whole ‘Scotland get battered’. I love you guys, I expect that. I don’t know what happened there but I’ve never hoped for a dart more in my life.

"That wasn’t confidence, that was just praying to things I didn’t know existed. I am ecstatic.

"I don’t deal with this very well", the Gers fan added. "To get involved with the crowd is my mentality thing. I don’t do it in a bad way, I’m just a nervous wreck.

"I think I’ve got someone looking over me at the moment. I’m carrying a bit of luck. I might have to phone in sick tomorrow!"
