Rangers' Rougned Odor signs $49.5 million extension, reports say

Rougned Odor has signed a new contract extension to remain with the Rangers just weeks before he hopes to dominate MLB arms once again.

After enjoying a break-out season,Rougned Odor has signed a contract extension to remain with the Rangers just weeks before he hopes to dominatemajor league arms once again.

According to multiple reports, Odor, 23, signed a new contract that had been in the works since this winter after he tallied 33 home runs, 88 RBIs, 14 stolen bases and 89 runs scored in 150 games last season.

The six-year contract extension is worth $49.5 million with an option for a seventh season, a deal similar to what Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis (who has the same agent as Odor) signed in 2014.

The Rangers, who have won the AL West the past two seasons, recentlysigned catcher Robinson Chirinos to a one-year extension with a team option for 2019 and may be close to giving young outfielderNomar Mazara an extension as well, according to Fox Sports.
