Rangers structure is 'BROKEN' as Kris Boyd lays into off field issues killing Philippe Clement concentration
Kris Boyd has laid into Rangers' structure off the field and insisted it is "BROKEN" at Ibrox.
The Light Blues are now without chairman John Bennett who stepped down for health reasons this weekend to be replaced in the interim by John Gilligan. It came hot on the heels of the club also having their apparent first choice for chief executive, Jim Gillespie, knocking back the job to remain at St Mirren.
For Boyd it has become a seriously difficult time at his old side with the off field problems causing manager Philippe Clement and his squad to suffer on the pitch. It's a mess, according to Boyd, who told Sky Sports before this afternoon's Dundee United clash that the Gers board need to get the big personnel decisions right or risk falling further behind rivals Celtic who seem to have it all together in the boardroom.

"John Gilligan will temporarily fulfil the role of the chairman," Boyd said, adding: "For John Bennett, I hope everything is fine, your health is the most important thing. It must hurt, when you put in the amount of money these guys have, at the top of the tree for Rangers, to grow up as fans, and be criticised constantly. But, listen, that is the reality when you are at a big football club and things aren't going right. I am sure they would have said the same with the previous owners, and that is why they are in the position they are in.
"It's another role (that needs filled). For me, the structure at Rangers is broken, and they need to get it fixed. James Bisgrove decided to move on and Jim Gillespie was the one who was head-hunted. We were led to believe he was the one who was going to take up the role of chief exec, that is no longer happening, he has knocked that back, for whatever reason.
"You look at it right now and there are huge roles within the football club which need to be filled, and need to be filled quickly. Because, personally, and I know people will say it doesn't have a knock-on effect, but when you have got a manager who can't concentrate fully on what he needs to deliver on the pitch, because there are other things bubbling away in the background. It does have an impact on what happens on the pitch. Rangers need a proper structure in place that allows, from the top to the bottom, for Rangers to go and flourish."
The former Ibrox striker added: "For Clement, he has been given a huge responsibility, he has been looking to bring in his own players.
"Personally, it's difficult for me to sit here and say Rangers have to accept second best, because it was never ever in my mindset when I played with the football club and it was never in anyone who was connected with the football club. When you listen to what is being said, around the football club, that is the kind of mindset I'm in at this moment in time, what you are picking up. It's going to be time, players in, it's going to be a project, personally, I cannot sit and say Rangers Football Club is a project, I have said it before, you need to win games of football. Celtic, they have set the standard in Scottish football for a number of years now."
