Rangers summer transfer position demands in view as Philippe Clement targets major overhaul

Philippe Clement has already made it clear he plans to toss out the unwanted and bring in fresh new stars at Rangers.

The Ibrox outfit have "completed their cycle", says the manager, and will have big summer business to be done, both in and out. That has provided head of football recruitment Nils Koppen with a hefty workload over the coming months with the talent-spotter expected to bring a number of names to the fore to be pored over by the manager and his coaching staff.

Clement wants younger stars to arrive with the idea towards selling on for big money down the line in a strategy previously fumbled by the club. But the Belgian knows how pivotal that plan is to the future of Gers and their transfer income down the line.

Still, there are more experienced players expected to leave before that can happen and big wages to get off the books. Robby McCrorie will depart and that means another goalie must be signed to provide backup to Jack Butland. Liam Kelly is one man who has been linked and it was confirmed today he'd leave Motherwell at the end of this season.

Left-back has been an important position on the list and Jefte is on his way from Fluminense. Football Scotland understands the club want a second left-back in position as well as the Brazilian for the start of next season and that may hint towards Ridvan Yilmaz leaving but that would cost a buying club a decent sum.

A left-sided centre-back is another position Clement has tasked Koppen in finding with Ben Davies one player who could also depart. He's on decent wages which would be better served, perhaps, going towards a bonafide starter.

A ball-playing midfielder - in the number six role - is a desired signing while Football Scotland understands a number eight on the left-hand side of midfield is also one they'd like to make a move for. John Lundstram will leave for Trabzonspor in the coming days.

Rangers are also seeking a winger who is adept on both flanks to provide options in the attacking areas and they'd consider spending a decent fee to find one, while they also want an experienced striker who is a proven goal scorer that they would also be willing to splash out.
