Rangers transfer target Thomas Galdames wants move NOW as defender explains thought process

Thomas Galdames insists he wants to leave Gody Cruz this summer amid links to Rangers.

The defender is the latest name to have been linked with a move to Ibrox after a deal for Jose Cordoba collapsed with the Panamanian heading for Norwich City instead. The Chilean plays in Argentina and Gers look to be targeting the South American market having already added Brazilian Jefte.

Galdames, 25, is out of contract with his club in December. The left-sider was quoted yesterday as being open to a transfer after being quizzed directly on the links to Philippe Clement's side. But he has now gone further and insisted he wants to make the move now rather than waiting.

He told Cooperativa Deportes: "I have a contract in Godoy Cruz until December and my idea is that they sell me now. I hope that is the same idea as the club.

"My representative is working on that, but these are not issues that concern me and I focus only on the games. I know that, going to Europe in a competitive league, rather than staying here in South America, will mean I continue to grow. My career has been very progressive, especially upwards. Today the market opened so I hope we will have news."

Godoy Cruz vice president Juan Mansur has already insisted there is a long way to go before Galdames can be allowed to leave the club.
