Raptors fans dunk on Goran Dragic after Nets get swept by Celtics
Be careful what you wish for.
On Monday night, the Brooklyn Nets, led by superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, were swept at the hands of the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Basketball fans took to Twitter in droves to poke fun at the supposed superteam and its failure to make a deep playoff run.
Toronto Raptors fans had another agenda though, closely monitoring the efforts of Nets guard Goran Dragic and ultimately dancing on his metaphorical grave as the clock ran down in Game 4 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Dragic was traded to Toronto last summer as part of the Kyle Lowry sign-and-trade to the Miami Heat, and quickly sullied his relationship with the Raptors faithful when he told reporters in his native Slovenia that he had “higher ambitions” than playing for Toronto this season.

The next time an NBA player wants out of Toronto I’m not going to flinch. This is one of the best organizations in sports. It’s one of the best cities in the world. Good luck to you jackass.

The 35-year-old appeared in five games for the Raptors, averaging eight points and 1.8 assists in 18 minutes per game before he stepped away from the squad for personal reasons.
In February, Dragic was traded to the San Antonio Spurs for forward Thaddeus Young and was subsequently bought out. Free to sign anywhere as a free agent, the veteran guard chose to join the ambitious, star-laden Nets.
Dragic was showered with boos in his return to Scotiabank Arena in early March.
While the Raptors wage an impassioned comeback bid in their first round series against the Philadelphia 76ers, forcing a Game 6 after going down 0-3, fans watching from home can take solace in the fact that there is never a lack of ambition in Toronto.
