Real Madrid host city rivals Ateltico in this week's Champions League semi final. However, as Zinedine Zidane prepares his squad for an inevitably difficult game, the French manager has paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo's goal-scoring ability.
"Obviously Ronaldo is the best finisher I've had as a coach," Zidane told Marca . "Yet I've never played with him.
"I did play with Brazilian Ronaldo and he also scored a lot of goals.
"They both make me jealous because I didn't have their goalscoring ability."
It must be something in the name. To be told that the magnificent Zinedine Zidane is jealous of you must be one hell of a compliment. Nevertheless, Zidane knows that the ability to score goals isn't the only crucial part ahead of their encounter with Diego Simeone's side.
"I don't think we're easily conceding goals, but it's true that we are conceding," Claimed Zidane after many have spoken of his team's poor defending. "We're not keeping clean sheets like we did last year.
"As always, the important thing for us is to score one more than our opponents."
The World Cup winner makes it sound so simple, but will know that Antoine Griezmann and Co will put up a massive fight in their bid for Champions League glory.
Atletico Madrid sit third in La Liga, and with no chance of winning their domestic title, the squad will be determined to finally overcome Los Blancos on the European stage and push for a Champions League trophy.
