Chelsea are keen on Real Madrid star Casemiro per reports, and they could snatch him from the Spanish side with a big offer.

Chelsea have made solid additions to their squad during the summer transfer window. Raheem Sterling and Marc Cucurella, among others, seem like top signings.

The Blues are continuing to look for players that could bolster their squad further.

Indeed, they would no doubt like to improve on their third-placed finish from last season. They currently sit seventh in the league, after two games.

They are targeting a big name to help them ascend the table, too. 90min reports that they have their sights set on Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.

Manchester United have also recently registered an apparent interest in the Brazilian. However, the report suggests that Chelsea have been looking at the star for a longer period.

Either way, there may be a battle between the two sides regarding where the player ends up, if he does move on from Real.

Of course, Carlo Ancelotti will not want to see one of his most crucial assets leave.

Despite that, Chelsea could prise the midfielder away from Real. Indeed, the report suggests that an offer over £51million could force Los Blancos’ hand.

Chelsea are no strangers to paying a sum in that region, having spent more than that on eight occasions, including once already this window.

Casemiro a big bonus for Chelsea

Should they land him, Casemiro would be a great addition to the Chelsea side. While their defensive-midfield options are good, both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are out of contract next season, and could move on.

As such, Casemiro could fill the void that they may potentially leave.

The Brazilian’s stats speak for themselves – he is a serial winner, having helped Real to five Champions League titles, as well as three league titles.

The only slight question mark would be around Chelsea paying such a large fee for a player who has already reached the age of 30. Indeed, he would be the second-most expensive player over the age of 30 in history should the £51million price tag be spent.

However, he has performed consistently for years, and nothing over the past season or so has suggested that will stop any time soon. As such, the transfer does not seem a bad piece of business, if the Blues can get it done.
