Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has insisted that Kylian Mbappe is already forgotten after the Spanish side secured their 14th Champions League crown.

Madrid secured yet more European glory on Saturday night, edging out Liverpool thanks to Vinicius Jr’s second half strike.

They had been expected to add French superstar Mbappe in the summer, with the players’ contract at Paris Saint-Germain expiring this summer.

However, after receiving offers from both Real and PSG, the forward made the decision to remain in Ligue 1, signing a three year contract extension with the French champions.

However, despite missing out on the 23-year-old, Madrid president Perez insisted that he is already forgotten.

Speaking to Movistar (via Daily Mail) after the game, Perez said: “I’m calm and happy, we’ve all worked hard all season to be able to reach a situation like the one we’re in.

“Real Madrid will always continue to work on having the best players, but today Mbappe is already forgotten.

“Nothing has happened, Real Madrid have had a perfect season and that is a forgotten issue, there is only a Real Madrid party.”

The Real president then told Sky Sports that nothing will change for his club, PSG or Mbappe despite the deal.

“Mbappe to Real Madrid was a possibility but then he made his choice, it’s his own decision.

“Real Madrid will be Real Madrid, Mbappe will be Mbappe and PSG will be PSG – nothing will change because of that deal.”

Elsewhere, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has promised fans that his side will do everything to come back and win the Champions League next season.

“The boys tried absolutely everything, especially after we were 1-0 down,” he told BT Sport.

“We wanted to be more brave in the second half, which is what we said at half-time.

“But as I have said before with these things, it is not bad to get to the final, and that is already kind of success, I know not the kind you want to have.

“I have the strong feeling we will come again. That is how it is because the boys are really competitive, we have an outstanding group together, we will have (one) again next year and then we go again.

“We have to try a bit more often than others, but no problem.”

“Where is the final next year? Istanbul. Book the hotel!”
