A brilliant Malaga performance put a major dent in Barcelona's La Liga title hopes on Saturday evening.
Goals from Sandro Ramirez and Jony ensured Malaga scored to ease their own relegation worries, while Barcelona are now three points behind league leaders Real Madrid after their 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona could have leapfrogged Real Madrid in the table with a win, but were ultimately undone, partly due to Neymar's red card, and Real midfielder Isco, who has been linked with a shock move to his side's fierce rivals, couldn't help but express his joy with the result on Twitter after the match.
"Malaga showed balls! Congratulations," the 24-year-old declared after Malaga sealed the win.
Saturday's results definitely favoured Real, with Zinedine Zidane's side travelling to Sporting Gijon next Saturday before Barcelona host Real Sociedad later that day. With the El Clasico on the horizon, Real will be glad to have extended their lead to three points, even if they could have secured a win against Atletico Madrid.
Antoine Griezmann's late equaliser ensured the points were shared, despite Real looking good for the win after Pepe's earlier goal. Real still have a game in hand on their Catalan rivals as they look to win their first La Liga title since 2011-12.
