Real Madrid Team News: Injuries, suspensions and line-up vs Alaves

Real Madrid return to action after the international break with a match at home to Alaves in the Primera Division on Sunday.

Zinedine Zidane's side lead La Liga by two points from fierce rivals Barcelona and also have a game in hand after their fixture away to Celta Vigo was postponed in February.

Real beat Athletic Club 2-1 in an impressive victory prior to the recent break, but Los Blancos will be keen to defeat Alaves as well ahead of tough tests against Atletico and Barcelona in April.

REAL MADRID INJURIES

Raphael Varane and Pepe are both available again after injury, so Zidane has all four of his central defenders to choose from for the game against Alaves.

Fabio Coentrao admitted recently that he is nowhere near the level required to play for Madrid and the Portuguese is unlikely to feature in this match.

Zidane has no other injury concerns for Sunday's game.

REAL MADRID SUSPENSIONS

Casemiro misses out through suspension on Sunday, while Dani Carvajal and Cristiano Ronaldo are both just one booking away from a ban, which will be a concern for Zidane with the derby against Atletico ahead next weekend (after the game at Leganes).

REAL MADRID POTENTIAL STARTING LINE-UP

Zidane has a full-strength squad available for the game against Alaves, with the exception of the suspended Casemiro, so the Frenchman can pick a strong side for Sunday's match at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Keylor vows to silence Madrid jeers

Mateo Kovacic is in line to replace Casemiro in midfield, while Carvajal and Ronaldo should start despite the risk of suspension, with a booking for either of those two on Sunday meaning they will miss the midweek match at Leganes and not the derby against Atletico next weekend.

Meanwhile, Zidane could decide to hand a start to Kiko Casilla in goal. Isco and James Rodriguez are also in contention, but the line-up will also depend somewhat on the coach's plans for the visit of Atletico next weekend.
