Real Madrid have been left without a number of star names after naming a 19-man travelling squad for their Champions League clash with Liverpool. The Reds host the reigning European champions at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Carlo Ancelotti will be without the services of both Vinicius Junior and Aurelien Tchouameni for the clash. It was confirmed on Monday that the Brazilian was set for a month on the side-lines after suffering a hamstring injury in their victory over Leganes on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the France international has failed to recover in time after sustaining an ankle injury in the 3-1 defeat to AC Milan at the start of the month.

Lucas Vazquez is a surprise inclusion in the Real Madrid travelling squad though, having expected to be out until next month with an adductor injury.

Eder Militao, David Alaba, Dani Carvajal and Rodrygo are also all absent for Ancelotti’s men, with the La Liga giants unable to name a full 23-man matchday squad for the trip to Anfield due to their ongoing injury woes.

Raul Asencio, Gonzalo Garcia and Fran Gonzalez have all been called up from their ‘Castilla’ team to complete their diminished quota. The former has made two appearances for the first team so far this season, but the latter pair are yet to feature.

Despite the absentees, the Italian will still be able to call upon the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham - both former Liverpool transfer targets - against Arne Slot’s men.
