The Real Reason You'll Never See Kate Middleton Horse Riding
You'll see her attending Easter Sunday church service in Windsor, visiting charities up and down the United Kingdom, and opening new state schools, but there's one royal tradition that's been passed down trough the monarch's generations you'll never see Kate Middleton joining in with.
Horse riding.
While Zara Tindall and Princess Anne might be Olympic medal-winning equestrians, the Queen still riding at the ripe age of 91, and Prince Harry and William pros on the polo match fields, you're unlikely to ever see the Duchess of Cambridge riding a saddle in public.
The reason? Her upbringing.
According to Town & Country, Marcia Moody – the author of Kate: A Biography – revealed the mother-of-two doesn't ride, 'purely because she didn't do it growing up'.
'William and Harry were taught from an early age, but the only time they ride now is for polo - they don't go off on hacks like the queen always has,' she added.
I mean, that's fair enough.
We wouldn't exactly want to jump on the back of a horse without professional help, especially in front of the public and royal's inquisitive eye.
However, while the Duchess – who is currently helping her sister, Pippa, prepare for her upcoming nuptials to hedge fund financier, James Matthews, next month – has revealed her children, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, have already started to have horse riding lessons.
Last year at an evening honouring Olympians and Paralympians at a Buckingham Palace reception, Kate told equestrian triple-gold medalist Natasha Baker that Princess Charlotte loves to hop on a saddle.
According to the Mirror, the Paralympian revealed: 'I asked her how the children were and she said Charlotte is really enjoying her riding which is great to hear and I said we may see her here on a line-up in 20 years time.'
'She emphasised that Charlotte has this passion about horses and although she doesn't echo it, she'll do her best to champion and encourage it,' she added.
Give it a few years and we might be seeing Princess Charlotte at the 2030 Olympics individual dressage.
