The Melbourne Rebels jumped off the bottom of the Super Rugby table with a surprise 34-23 victory over the Blues at AAMI Park.
Things were looking good for the Rebels when they took a two-point lead into half-time, but the visitors scored a try early in the second half to quickly open up a five-point advantage.
But a brilliant try from James O'Connor allowed the Rebels to regain the lead and they held on for their second win of the season despite a few nervous moments in the final minutes.
While O'Connor was once again the star for the Rebels, fellow Wallaby Kurtley Beale showed his class with a superb five-pointer of his own, while skipper Gareth Delve also got on the scoresheet with a late try. But for the Blues it was yet another disappointing night.
Their forwards were on top for the majority of the contest and they enjoyed plenty of possession, but handling errors let them down more often than not.
