The Belarus world number one has now not lost a set since losing the US Open final to Serena Williams – winning 13 matches since New York.

Azarenka is also the season leader in wins – with her victory over Georges representing her 67th WTA win of the season.

Azarenka had four breaks of serve in the match to just one from the fifth seeded German to secure the win in one hour and 17 minutes.

Despite the relative ease of the victory it was the toughest test she has had this week with Georges being the first player who has won three or more games against her in a match.

"I'm glad I stayed in the moment," Azarenka said. "I did the right things at that moment to finish the match and I'm very happy I managed to win today.

"I was coming to Linz for the first time and everywhere you go you try to win, and I'm really happy I could go all the way through this tournament. I'm happy to end the week with such a beautiful trophy and a smile on my face."
