Red Hot Paige VanZant to Return Against Alex Chambers at UFC 191

Having quickly become one of the hottest properties in the Octagon, Paige VanZant isn't being rushed to the top of the UFC strawweight division, as witnessed by her next bout.

VanZant will face Alex Chambers at UFC 191 on Sept. 5 in Las Vegas. VanZant confirmed the bout via Twitter, following an initial report by MMASucka. UFC officials have yet to confirm the bout.

Initially too young to take part in the strawweght season of The Ultimate Fighter, Van Zant (5-1), now 21, stormed the Octagon with a TKO stoppage of Kailin Curran in her UFC debut. She immediately attracted attention, even landing an individual sponsorship deal with Reebok prior to her next fight.

VanZant dominated veteran Felice Herrig in her sophomore effort en route to a unanimous decision victory, which lead to this match-up.

While VanZant sits at No. 8 in the UFC strawweight division, her next opponent, Chambers (5-2), has yet to crack the Top 15.

Having competed on The Ultimate Fighter, Chambers (5-2) lost her only bout on the show to Rose Namajunas. That was considered an exhibition bout and doesn't count towards her overall record, but Chambers then lost to Aisling Daly at the TUF Finale in her official Octagon debut.

Chambers returned at May's UFC Fight Night in Australia, where she submitted Curran, and finally got her UFC career on track. She'll face no easy task in building momentum when she fights VanZant, but it's a big opportunity to get into the thick of things in the 115-pound division.

No other bouts have been named for UFC 191 yet, but stay tuned to MMAWeekly.com as the fight card develops.
