Jamie Redknapp believes Erling Haaland’s move to Manchester City is a “game-changer” for the Premier League.

After weeks of rumours and reports, City announced on Tuesday that they have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of Haaland this summer.

Is Haaland a Man City ‘cheat code’ or does the Bundesliga flatter him?

The Norwegian striker is one of the most sought after players in world football, also attracting interest from Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

He will join for as little as £51m after the Premier League champions activated a transfer clause in his contract.

Having scored 85 goals in 88 appearances for Dortmund, former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp says he expects Haaland to have a huge impact on the Premier League.

“It’s a game-changer not just for Man City but for the league,” Redknapp told Sky Sports (quotes via the Daily Mail). “It’s the first time in a long time we’ve got that global superstar everyone’s coveted.

“It’s super exciting for everyone concerned. It’s gonna be great to have him in our league.”

However, former Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin expects the 21-year-old striker to find things “difficult” in England, while also insisting that he does not expect him to flop.

“I don’t think it’s going to be as easy as people think, scoring goals in the Premier League is very hard,” Dublin said. “He’ll do well, but he’ll find it difficult.”

Speaking before the announcement of the transfer, City boss Pep Guardiola said that he was “not allowed to say anything” about the reported deal.

“Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City have told me I am not allowed to say anything until the deal is completely done,” Guardiola told reporters.

“I cannot talk I am sorry. We will have time to talk.”

Guardiola was also asked about how his side will be impacted by having a number nine like Haaland next season.

“We have a number nine now,” he said. “We have I guess new players in the squad, some from the academy come up next season. New players always helps to be a stronger team. But not one defender or striker will solve our defensive or scoring problems.

“Not me, the club always has to have a vision for the future. The decisions the club makes I am aware and supportive 100 per cent.”
