The Reds might have lost against the Cubs Friday night, 6-5, but they still managed to fit in a dig at Chicago fans.
Cincinnati debuted a new jumbotron feature at Great American Ball Park called "Bandwagon Cam," with the joke being that most of the Cubs fans in Cincinnati only started watching and rooting for the Cubs once Chicago started fielding a really good team and winning a lot of games.
Some highlights of the video include
- The jab that a Cubs fans "bought this shirt earlier today"
- The fan 35 seconds in that reveals, under his Cubs World Champions shirt, he's wearing a Reds shirt. Which is weird.
- The fan on the left at 58 seconds who just waves at the camera, until he realizes it's a joke on him, and then proceeds to give the Jumbotron an obscene gesture
- At 1:32, "After Game Four I bought an Indians jersey."
It's harmless fun, so good on the Reds for doing it. It seemed that most Cubs fans besides the inappropriate gesture guy took it in stride.
Still, I can't really blame any of those fans for giving up on the Cubs prior to 2016. That's what a century of losing will do to you.
