Rees defends Euro lightweight belt

Rees defends Euro belt

Eurosport

Rees hit Mezaache with a series of blows that left the Frenchman reeling and the referee was forced to stop the fight with 42 seconds remaining in the seventh round.

The win was Rees’s second successful defence of his European belt, after a bout against Derry Mathews in October was prematurely ended when Mathews suffered a broken nose after a clash of heads.

Next up for Rees could be a fight against WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns.
